Avery got sober right before he turned 15 in an APG. He has since spent years volunteering on sober committees, bidding and hosting Statewide and international conferences for young sober people. Avery has spent time volunteering for TAFS and other youth programs. Avery believes that because he got sober as a teenager, it helps him to relate and process better with the kids in this program. “One of the coolest things about this program is watching the gradual change from sick to healthy. The change in overall behavior going from hopelessness, fear, and dread to love, support and vulnerability in both the addict and family system.
